Mesa Recreation Program Welcomes New Administrator!

Posted on February 17, 2009

Mesa Families:

It’s a new season and a new beginning for Mesa Recreation.  We wish to thank Rose Sanford for her commitment and dedication to our Mesa families over the past several years as our Mesa Recreational Registrar and Administrator.  Mesa players and their families were always a priority for Rose and she worked many hours coordinating our volunteer coaches.  We will miss her presence and wish her well in future endeavors.

At this time we would like to introduce to you to our new Mesa Recreational Administrator, Cindy Friedman.  Cindy first came to Mesa Soccer Association in 1997 as a volunteer recreational coach for a Boys Division 3 team called the “Blues Brothers”.  The Blues Brothers enjoyed an undefeated season in Inter-League and the next season Cindy moved with the team up to the competitive level as a Mesa Rovers squad.

Mesa
went through a merger and the competitive Rovers became the San Diego Fire in 2000 and Cindy began coaching competitive U9 and U10 girls’ teams.  Along with competitive coaching, she was actively involved with Mesa Recreation during the next few years both as an administrator and on field coaching assistant for the recreational teams.  She continues to coach U9 and U10 girls’ teams with Mesa’s most recent competitive program, Nott’s Forest F.C.  Cindy has been the coach in charge of the Little Nott’s recreational program for the past five years and she has coached several Mesa All Star teams.

Cindy coached the Middle School Girls and JV Girls at Francis Parker Middle School for several years and is now currently a P.E. instructor at Santa Fe Montessori Elementary School.  She also founded together with David Banks, United Kingdom Soccer Academy (UKSA) in 1999.  UKSA is known for its soccer camps and after school programs throughout San Diego County.

The Mesa Board of Directors is excited to have Cindy once again working with our recreational teams and coaches.  She knows Mesa Soccer well and has been an advocate of the program both in and around our community for many years.

For those of you who are interested in acting as a Division Coordinator and/or coaching a spring recreational team, please contact David Banks.  We always appreciate your volunteer time and energy.  If you no longer have time to volunteer as a coach, but want to stay involved, let us know, we’ll find something for you to do!

Thank you for your patience as we make this transition...but do feel free to call or email if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

The Mesa Board of Directors:  Linda Sawyer, Steve Ashcraft, Robin Griffin, Matt Xavier, Bill Lane
, Gerhard Neuendorff, Gary Rotto, Greg West & David Banks
